This Pizzeria In Florida Is Serving Up An Invasive Species On Its New Pizza

It's no secret that Florida has a problem with pythons. The invasive species is currently locked in a battle with local alligator populations for predatory dominance. While authorities struggle with a solution to their python problem, one local business is taking steps to both raise awareness and cut down on the python population.
Wait until you see how he proposes to do it.

Meet Evan Daniell, the owner of Evan's Neighborhood Pizza in Fort Myers.

For the last year, Daniell's shop has been serving up a tasty new pie called the "Everglades Pizza." Its main ingredient is python meat.

Looks tasty, right?

In addition to the cooked python meat, this special pizza is also topped with alligator sausage and frog legs.

To get the python meat just right, Daniell marinates it for several hours and cooks it a bit before putting it on the pizza. Apparently, it tastes like chicken.

At the moment, Florida laws prevent Daniell from using pythons caught in the wild for their meat. Until the laws change, he has to source his python meat from a farm in Vietnam.

The price tag for an Everglades Pizza is a steep $45, but that isn't stopping customers from indulging. According to its creator, it has "gone viral."

I'm not sure whether I should be hungry or grossed out. I suppose there's nothing wrong with python meat, but I'm still gagging a little bit just thinking about it. That being said, serving up an invasive species on pizza is the most inventive population control tactic I've ever heard of.
